Via Rt 93 South.

There are faster and/or more direct routes, but they involve a more intense Bostonian driving experience. From downtown or the Turnpike, get onto the Expressway South (middle lane), Route 93. You will be taking Exit 11B (Granite Ave/Ashmont).  You wil see exits 15 and 12 beforehand, but no 14 or 13.  (They are northbound only.)  It will be (very) roughly five miles south of the Turnpike.

Exit 11B puts you on Granite Avenue headed north.  You will see a light at a red drawbridge.  Keep left to avoid a right-turn-only lane at the real traffic light that follows.  Go directly through this intersection.

Then get right to avoid a left-turn-only lane at the next light.  This will be as you cross directly over Gallivan Boulevard at Adams Village.  The Eire Pub will be directly ahead and the road will bend right and become Adams Street.

You will pass through lights at Ashmont, Lonsdale, and then Centre Streets.  At the next light, turn left onto Parkman Street.  Be careful; this is a two-way street but is very narrow at first.  Take this to the next light where you will cross over Dorchester Avenue and the street will become Melville Avenue.  Be careful here of the many bad drivers trying to turn in front of you off of Melville!

Halfway down Melville, there is a stop sign. Take the first left off Melville after the stop sign onto Allston Street. Lyndhurst Street will be the first right off of Allston Street.  Number 83 is the third house on the left. Park anywhere on the street.

From Jamaica Plain, 'easier landmark' route.

From Jamaica Plain/Roxbury, get onto Columbia Road at the end by Blue Hill Ave. Take it East towards Dorchester. Washington Street crosses Columbia at a somewhat prominent traffic light, with a Buger King beyond on the left hand corner. TURN RIGHT HERE ONTO Washington Street.

Follow Washington St. until you come to the new courthouse, an imposing, modernist building taking up a large lot on the left hand side. Melvile Ave appears to the left at a traffic light following the courthouse. Turn left onto Melville.

One long block down, turn right off Melville onto Allston Street. Look for a mailbox on the right just after the turn.

Lyndhurst Street will be the first right off of Allston Street.  Number 83 is the third house on the left. Park anywhere on the street.

By The Red Line:

Take the Red Line outbound. Make a point of getting on an Ashmont train, not Braintree (just wait - they alternate). Get off at the second-to-last stop on the line; Shawmut, and go to the surface.

When you get to the surface, you will exit through a door that basically faces due East, turn left and walk due North along the sidewalk, ignoring Dayton street as it turns away to the right from your direction of travel. After a short distance this sidwalk hits Mather street where you turn left.

Walk uphill on Mather, cross Allston St and discover that Mather has become Lyndhurst St. Number 83 is the third house on the left from Allston St.
